Under-Display Face ID Debut on ‘iPhone 17 Pro’
Analyst Ross Young has revealed that the “iPhone 17 Pro” will be the first iPhone to incorporate under display Face ID technology.
It may be recalled that Young, who correctly predicted the development of new MacBook Pro models equipped with mini-LED backlight panels, is confident that the “iPhone 17 Pro” will be the first iPhone with a built-in Face ID technology.
Later today, Young took to Twitter posting an updated map saying that yes, this new under-display Face ID will still have a tiny circular cut-out to accommodate the front-facing camera. This layout will remain in its place up to the 2027 iPhone Pro models release, that will also introduce the camera under the display, making it “all-screen” device.
This forecast is different from the plan that Young disclosed in May 2022 when he said that only the iPhone 16 Pro models in 2024 are likely to feature the under-display Face ID. Last month, Young said this one-year delay is owed to ‘sensor issues. ’ As a result of this new development, the present design, featuring two display cutouts called the Dynamic Island, will remain consistent across the next three Pro iPhones.
Young also pointed out that in the new iPhone series, Apple’s standard models will come equipped with ProMotion, available in the Pro series currently only.
