After the launch of REALME GT Neo 3, Realme India stopped making GT-branded smartphones, which notably included a special 150W variant. In the beginning, the beginning of GT Series started with the modal of the main edition like the main edition and then it expanded into the new you see like game-centric or youth-oriented smart phone. In June 2022, the GT Neo 3 150w was highlighted in the high-end gaming display in the past, however, due to its special feature, the camera was able to be given attention. Despite being able to make claims of premium exclusivity, these devices have proven to be a challenge for the average user due to their relatively high cost. 42,999 and features amazing features like a good camera, an IP rating even fast charging or wireless charging.
After a gap of several years, Realme has re-introduced the GT series to the Indian market with its latest offering, the Realme GT 6T. The device is different from previous GT-series smartphones released in India, offering a fresh perspective on positioning the GT line in the market.
Starting from Priced at Rs 30,999 for the base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, the Realme GT presents a highly competitive option given its impressive hardware specifications. It comes in four variants, with the top-tier model with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage, priced at Rs. 39,999.
Despite its competitive price, Realme has made some compromises with the manufacturing of the handset. After using the device briefly, one noticeable compromise is the plastic frame and rear panel, which, despite its smooth and modern appearance, easily attracts dust and exhibits some flexibility. Interestingly, despite opting for plastic in the chassis and rear panel, Realme claims that the phone is IP65 rated, which is a first for a GT series device in India.
I like the design of the REALME GT 6T, which has a mix of curved corners and flat corners. The dual-tone finish on the rear panel is particularly striking, as is the reflective mirror finish on the side of the camera and the milky gray finish clouds over, creating a striking visual contrast. Immediately on the display there are two sides and two sides or a foggy edge, which adds to the aesthetic appeal. The 6.78-inch large, full-HD+ AMOLED panel uses a LTPO display, which allows it to adjust the refresh rate by up to 1Hz for a better display. With 360Hz normal touch sampling and 2,500Hz turbocharged touch sampling, this display ensures clear and practical interactions when gaming. Apart from this, the panel is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for added stability.
Despite boasting the largest vapor chamber cooling system on a smartphone, the REALME GT 6T is remarkably thin. With a massive 5,500mAh battery, it supports ultra-fast 120W charging.
The Realme GT 6T is the only mid-range smartphone to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC, and that too among smartphones in general. With significant architectural and core similarity to the premium Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 series found in devices priced above Rs. Priced at Rs 50,000, this processor provides tremendous power.
Keeping in mind the slimming of the previous handset and its mediocre camera performance, realme is assured to include a state-of-the-art Sony LYT-600 camera with a resolution of 50-megapixel. Equipped with an extended f/1.8 aperture and OIS, it promises to capture better low-light photographs. Specifically, this sensor was previously integrated into the REALME 12+ smartphone but failed to make an impact in our test. So, it will be interesting to see how this camera performs when paired with Qualcomm Silicon.
Driving all these features is Realme UI 5.0, which is built on the foundation of Android 14.
Certainly, the Realme GT 6T seems to mark a positive development for the GT series. While it prioritizes gaming with its high-performance hardware selection, there is now a welcome balance with additional practical features.
It strikes a balance between the lean and design-focused approach of the older GT Master Edition and being completely gamer-focused, ensuring broader appeal to the average consumer.
Currently, it presents a finely tuned blend of hardware and software, yet extensive testing is required to assess its performance against other premium smartphones in its price range. Stay tuned for our upcoming in-depth review, where we’ll look at its capabilities.
